Kazumi arrived early in the afternoon with her drumsticks. They had an electric drum set set up, so she did not have to bring her own. But she wanted to make sure that everything felt right when she started. She was not a great singer but she hoped that her drumming would make up for it. As she arrived there were not many people in the back room. She gave her name to the stage manager and walked over to the drum set.

Riley hopped out of his newly repaired orange Corvette (whom he called Lucy when he was alone.) and went around to the back, and popped open the trunk. The manger strolled over to him, and watched silently as he off-loaded his cargo; a Gibson Les Paul, his favorite Tama cymbals, and his go-bag, with extra guitar strings, drum keys, sticks, picks, and sheet music. "Hey, Tom, I know your standing there. You lost your ninja-ness a while back," Riley said to thin air, expecting his old friend to be there but not really knowing. "Damn Riley, you get me every time. Do you need some help carrying things in?" Tom asked, not knowing Riley guessed almost every time, already bending over to pick up his guitar. "Yeah, that's be great." As they were walking in, Riley carrying his rides under one arm while lugging his bag on his other shoulder, Tom said, "Hey, the Eel is set-up today, do you want us to move it?" The Eel was what most of the regulars called the new electric drum set, preferring the older Acoustic set. "No, I was planning on just being the unofficial house musician and doing whatever. Anyway, we always have a surplus of young fucks who grew up on a electric," Riley replied, dumping his stuff in Tom's office and continuing on to the stage, Tom, now relived of Riley's guitar, following in his wake.
Riley stepped out on the stage, and saw a familiar girl sitting at the drums, although he couldn't place her.
"Hey, um, do you think you could help me out with sound check? Wait, you can play guitar, right?" Riley asked her. Tom rolled his eyes and said, "Ya know, Riley, she has a name." He walked over to the control booth for the stage and started to turn on all the various parts; stage lights, the central laptop, amplification and microphones. "Oh, yeah, what's your - stop rolling your eyes, Tommy - your name?" Riley asked her, glaring at the tall and lanky manager, who made a face back.
Notes - god, this is long - 340 words! Don't even bother matching!

Kazumi turned to see a cute boy asking her if she wanted to help with a sound check. "Kazumi, I'd love to help with your sound check." She said in a smooth British accent. "Might I have your name?" She asked.

"I'm gonna' call you Kaz. Um, can you get the The Eel hooked up?" Riley asked, walking over to the control booth and grabbing Tom's clipboard. Reading over it, Riley found that first band wanted a Yamaha acoustic piano be miked and ready to go.
Riley was wandering over to stage right, where the piano was kept just off the stage, in the narrow wing, still reading the clipboard. Kaz's next words took a moment to sink in, mostly because there was an explosion of cussing from the control booth. Riley spun around to look at the bottle blond manager, saying "Cool it, man. What's wrong this time?" "The fucking spotlight is none-responsive," Tommy snarled, jabbing a few keys on the laptop in a doomed attempt to make the large spotlight to move. "Let stage maintenance deal with it," Riley said, turning to Kaz, "I'm Riley D'Arc-Del Cruz, and that's Tommy, the local spazz." Riley ducked the drumstick thrown at him by his friend, a certain light dancing in his eyes, devious grin playing his lips.
