Kazumi sat at a table decorated with red white and blue. There were a few sign up sheets and a right white and blue sign that read. "Young Republicans." The halls were filled with such tables for all the student organizations. Kazumi smiled at everyone, trying to get people to join.

Walking in the hallways, Chelsey couldn't help but feel slightly overwhelmed by the new school year. Over the course of the summer, she had her birthday, which she didnt tell anyone about. Only her dad knew, and she knew even though times were tough with the loss of her mother, also over the course of the summer, that she was suprised he still got her a gift - a new notebook and drawing pencils. She knew how little it cost, but the thought still meant the same to her.
Adjusting her dress a bit, a black one that came down to her knees with a simple sweater that accompanied it, she noticed a table set up in the hallways with one of her few friends sitting behind it. She quickly pushed through a small group of people who were talking, smiling at waving at Kazumi.
"Hey Kaz, what'cha doin'?" She asked, placing her bag down carefully beside the table. Chelsey wasn't too used to wearing dresses yet, but she decided to just for today, to celebrate the beginning of school. Pushing a strand of her recently dyed blonde hair out of her face.

"Trying to recruit some people for the young republicans. I might be the only member this year." She said, motioning to the unsigned papers. "It's an election year too, so it's going to be especially interesting. So many things to do and money to raise. We might even get to meet the next president!" She said sounding excited to give someone her speech. "You?" She asked.

Looking down at the unsigned papers, Chelsey felt a tinge of sadness for her friend, one of the few she had. Reaching down, she delicately picked up a sheet and glanced over it.
"Um... I've never been a politics person. Can you explain this to me?" She said, smiling a little as another person picked one up as well and simply walked off. "See, another person already." She said, looking back at her Asian friend.

Kazumi smiled. "One can only hope." She said before continuing. "To put it simply, a republican is someone who wants to see smaller government and more economic growth. We tend to be very conservative in their policies. They err on the side of caution rather then changing everything. We want people to be independent rather then dependent. So your asking why do you care about who wins. However, where do you see yourself in four or five years?" Kazumi asked.

Reading the sign-up form again, Chelsey looked over at Kazumi. "Did you make any pamphlets?" She asked, looking about the table vaugely. Another person quickly stopped by to take a pamphlet, and Chelsey smiled "It seems between the two of us, we're good luck." She said. Looking down at her wrist, she shrugged a bit at Kazumi's answers. "Hopefully not at a Cafe. Maybe I'll be an artist, if I ever show people my work. Maybe I'll be a homeless person." She said jokingly. "I still have a year to think about what I want to do."

"Your going to be looking for a job. If there is one available and the tone of your search is going to be set by whoever becomes president next year. We can help decide that." Kazumi explained to her apathetic friend.

Chelsey shrugged her shoulders and folded the slip. "I'll have to do a bit more research before I immediately jump into this, but as long as it doesnt interfere with any of the other stuff I have going on, I might join." She said with a smile, slipping the form into her pack.
"So when's your next shift at the Cafe?" Chelsey asked, turning her head back to face the petit girl.

"I've got today off, but I'm on a Monday Wednesday Friday schedule right now. The Meetings are on Tuesday nights. You?" She asked.

Chelsey pondered the question for a second, cupping her chin with her hand. "Hmm... I think currently its Tuesday Wednesday Thursday, and most times the weekend. I don't know, my schedule is always changed around." She said with a shrug, "I don't know why. I just show up daily pretty much and ask 'Do I work today?' to which the answer is most of the time 'You are now.'" She said, mimicking their boss.

Kazumi laughed, "That's just like him. I just stopped in the other day for a drink and he just needed 'help with this one thing' and I was there till closing." They had a good laugh. "So this is going to be done around seven or so. What you doing then?" she asked.

Looking down at her watch, Chelsey shrugged slightly, looking about. "I'm not sure. Am I still coming over to your house to practise again?" She asked, voice dropping slightly. Her parents never had enough money to buy her an actual guitar, but Kazumi had one, as well as a drum set. Chelsey had learned a lot while at Kazumi's house.
