Just another after-school day.
Chelsey sighed, leaning against the counter, listening to the idle chatter of many conversations as people drink their liquids and eat their solids. And she was stuck all alone, without a chair either. Her partner had some kind of emergency.
If Chris, the boss, knew, he'd be fired right quick.
But both of them were out, so who cared?
Her long, brown, straight hair was pulled back into a pony-tail, just for the job. She hated it, but the pay was good, and she wasn't complaining about that. Pursing her lips a little, she continued on the drawings in her little note-pad behind the counter.

Kazumi needed work, she had been applying everywhere in town. Her car was costing more then she expected and with insurance coming up soon, she needed a job. The bell jingled as she walked in. There seemed to be only one person minding the shop. A girl with brown hair. She would know where the applications were at the least. "Top of the evening to you mum." She said in her strong brittish accent. "Might you have an application?"

Mm. New person.
Chelsey flipped her notebook closed, and smiled a little, not in confidence as much as boredom. Before she could say hello however, the girl spoke to her with a british accent that caught her completely off guard. At the mention of the word mum, she actually burst into laughter.
"I-I'm sorry." She stumbled over her words, and smiled at her. "I've never been called mum before. Theres an application sheet... somewhere..." She said, pausing between words to open the cabinets below the counter, flipping through files. "Here!" She said triumphantly, flipping out the sheet and handing it to the rather short girl. "We aren't hiring, but uh... I think there will be a position open soon, y'know?" She said with a smile. "Pens are over there."

"Thanks," Kazumi said, taking a pin and sliding into an unused booth to fill out the application. The application was easy, standard for a place like this. The girl at the counter seemed familiar, but she could not quite place her. She finished and signed the application with a flourish. Rising, she headed back to the counter. "Here you go." Kazumi paused. "Don't I know you from somewhere? School perhaps?" She asked.

Chelsey was back leaning against the counter when the Application was handed back in front of her. The tilted her head up and looked at the Asian girl as she spoke, frowning a bit as she thought.
"I'm not too sure. You go to Miami Beach, right?" She asked, pointing out the front window. Less than two blocks away, the large campus sat, a green splotch in the district of grey. "If so, then we've probably seen one another here and there, This is my second year going to the school."

"That's it. I'm still in my tenth year though. I'm fairly new to the area. Still getting my bearings and th like. What do you do for fun around here?" She asked. She asked, she liked the American girl.

Chelsey shrugged a little, raising her hands palm up slightly.
"This is about it."
Thinking about it for a few seconds, she looked about. "I most of the time work here, go to school, or sleep. The odd days I actually have off, I'm either under the tree at school, or at the beach, which is almost never. Thats why I'm a bit paler than most of the others." She said, holding up her arms to show off her rather pale complexion.
"What about you? What do you like to do?" She asked, turning to grab two cans of Coca-Cola Original, sliding one across the counter to the other girl.

"Thanks mate." Kazumi said accepting the drink. "I play music mostly. I used to be part of a band. We were pretty good. I haven't found anyone to play with here though. I just like hanging out with friends a lot. Haven't made many here though." She said.

Cracking the can lid with a loud snap, Chelsey took a sip, sticking her tongue out a bit afterwards in mock distaste.
"Coke is too bubbly for my liking. But its free here, and tastes better than water." With that, she set it to the side, where, if you lowered your head, you could hear the bubbles bursting as they surface.
"What instrument to you play? Wait, let me guess, you played the... Bass?" She guessed, only knowing the four main instruments of a rock band.

"I like tea myself. I played Drums, but I also can sing a bit and I know some guitar. Enough to not make a complete fool out of myself at the least." Kazumi Said. "Do you know how to play an instrument?" She asked, and took a sip of her coke.

"Enough to make a complete fool out of myself." She said with a smile. "Theres a few different types of tea beside the coffee machine, help yourself." Chelsey said, guesturing to the folding tabletop that allowed people to walk in and out.
"Whats your name, by the way?" She asked offhandedly. She didn't read the application, as much as she could have. Simply tucked it away in the applications folder.

"Kazumi, I don't think I got yours either." She said. "If you want I can give you a lesson right here. It's easy to learn once you know the basics." She put down the coke and put her hands comfortably equidistant on the counter.

"Chelsey." She said with a smile, tilting her head a bit. "I would, but I think we'd make too much noise." Rather redundant, considering the drone of the cafe, but she was terribly shy of doing thing she was horrible at in front of people.
Not that she was any better with the things she was good at.

"No noise needed, just follow my hands." She said, and began to tap one rhythmically against the counter. "One, two, three, four. One, two, three, four..." she said, counting the beats

"Mmkay, this won't be so bad, I guess..." Chelsey said to herself, biting her tongue gently as she gently began to tap with her right hand. she looked around at the people at the cafe, who seemed to be paying no attention to them, and she relaxed a bit, still quite nervous. What if someone decided to laugh?
